Three years ago today, God blessed me with the perfect husband for me. He had only arrived in the States five days prior, on two weeks of R&R after nine months in Afghanistan. We spent those five days celebrating Christmas with our families (we celebrated late so Nate could join in the festivities) and putting the finishing touches on our wedding plans.
Since planning a winter wedding in Cleveland, I had a fear of waking up
to brown, slushy snow and a grey sky. Much to my relief and amazement, our wedding day was the most gorgeous winter day I have ever seen! There were several inches of snow on the ground, topped off with a light dusting in the early morning so everything looked crisp and fresh. There was ice clinging to the bare tree branches, making everything seem to sparkle. And boy, was the sun shining!
Our wedding day was perfect. Most of the details came together perfectly. Our families were there. And, even though it was only for a short two weeks, my soldier was home.
Here is a video our wedding photographer put together shortly after our wedding. She didn't have enough time to edit all of our photos before Nate had to return to Afghanistan, but she wanted him to be able to see some of our pictures before he left. So she came up with the idea of putting together a video for us and we have watched it over and over again since.
Happy Anniversary, Hubs!
Thanks for the spectacular early celebration!
